The Belles By Dhonielle Clayton

Hello fellow book lovers of the world, and Welcome back to my latest book blog. This blog is about The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton which came out Feb 6th from Disney Hyperion Freeform books. I was blessed enough to receive an ARC, but sadly I was not able to get to it before the release date. I am sincerely sorry for this review being up late. But on the 6th of Feb, I bought the audiobook to listen too because I have wanted to read this book for so long. I am so happy I decided to buy the audiobook, now onto the summary and my final thoughts of this book. 


This book starts out explaining the History of the Belles, Such as the main Character Camille. It talks about how Camille was raise to only take care of the Royals. That it is the job of the Belle’s to always look out for the Royals. But Most Importantly One Belle would be chosen to be at court with the King and Queen. She would be called the Favorite Belle. This big ball happens and the Belles are set out to perform so the favorite Belle is chosen. At first, the Favorite Belle that is Chosen is Amber, Camille Adopted Sister, but then things happen that cause Camille to become the favorite Belle of the Royal Family. As time goes on Camille discovers that being a Royal Favorite Belle is not all that its promoted to be. She finds things out about her Belle heritage that might end her life along with things that might end the life of the Royal Family. But in order to know more, I really suggest you buy the book, now onto my Summary. 


I rated this book a five out of five Stars. I love how Dhonielle had us guessing at every turn about who is really telling the truth. I love how Camille is so curious and doesn’t give up. Even when she is being threatened by people she still continues to want to help. There is so much mystery and intrigue throughout this book, that it makes you wonder who will be the next person to be hurt. People are falling in love with People that they should not be. But throughout the whole Book Camille just has this gift about keeping her head held high. I also love how colorful this book becomes through Dhonielle words. She describes a very French inspire royal era that takes place in New Orleans and its just breathe taking. I love how colorful she makes the ladies fashions but also how she adds a bit of Margaret Atwood “Hand Maiden Tale” to this book by describing this beauty is pain aspect of the world. She goes into depth about how these characters will do anything to be as colorful as the rest of the world.  She really gives us a strong deep look at the Beauty world even in today modern society. I honestly could tell you so much more about this awesome book but I will leave it to you to read it. I really suggest you do read it because it is one of my latest favorites of 2018. I can tell that this book will be apart of a series simply because of how it was written and I am already dying for book two. This book is amazing and Now I want more. Nice Try Jane Sinner Lianne Oelke

Hello fellow Booklovers!! and Good day to you. I am back with a brand new book called NiceTry Jane Sinner which came out on Jan 9th, 2018. I received an Arc a while back from HMH Teen for review purposes. I am sorry I am up late with this review these past couples of months have been bad in my personal life. So huge thank you to HMH Teen and Lianne Oelke for this Arc. I will be buying the actual book soon because I love the arc so much. Now onto the summary and my final thoughts.


This book is about Jane Sinner who has recently had a mental health flare up and is now trying to put her life back together. Jane was the good Christian girl next door, trying to follow everyone rules about life and trying to be perfect. Until one day while in Church, she decides she can't take it anymore, so she precedes to try to kill herself, but luckily for her, it doesn't work. She wakes up in the hospital a few days later with everyone still trying to tell her what to do but instead this time tipped toeing around her. So now Jane is trying to find a way to put her life back together by finishing high school at the community college and going on a local reality show. Along the way, Jane finds answers and more questions about this thing we call life. This book is an amazing read for anyone who has mental health issues, I would suggest you find a way to read it. Now onto my final thoughts of this book.

I rated this book a four out of five stars. My favorite thing about this book was the mental health aspect discuss throughout the book. How Jane comes to understand her own mental health better and why she is affected by the real world so. The thing that did bug me about the book was the people around Jane. In one scene you have Jane Parents preaching that she needs more God and more meds in her life, in another scene you have them coming to comfort her after a mental health flare up.In my opinion, this generally doesn't happen in real life. People who feel like God, and meds are the cure for everything, generally, don't comfort you during days of Instability. From what I've experienced first hand with my own mental health, these types of people are generally the ones who want nothing to do with those who have mental health issues because they figure the meds and god will help that person be normal, or what they believe to be normal. Reading this book was such an important thing to me because I want more books like this, that help people to see the thoughts of a person with Mental health.

Now while I believe the People in Jane's life can be unreal, I do believe that Jane very much represents those of us like me who deal with Mental Health on a daily base and doesn't always know how to handle it our self. I love the way Jane question things because that is what people do when dealing with Mental health. I love how she uses humor too because that is something people use when they feel uncomfortable about there own mental health problems. Also in this book, Jane doesn't want to use meds which I think can be commendable, because Meds are a very tricky thing in mental health. Overall I love this book, and how Jane was portrayed. Lianne did an amazing job of describing the mind of a person with mental health. I want more books like this in the world. I also believe if you are dealing with mental health or know of someone dealing with mental health please read this book. Gunslinger Girl by Lyndsay Ely

Hello, Fellow book lovers and welcome back to a brand new blog. I am back to share this brand new book with you from Jimmy Patterson Books. The book is Lyndsay Ely’s Gunslinger Girl and it's her debut novel. This book came out on Jan 2nd, 2018. I originally requested an Arc and then in December the lovely people at Hachette books Jimmy Patterson Books sent me the finished copy of Gunslinger Girl. So Huge thank you to those companies for the ARC and finish copy. I actually read the finished copy so this review will be base on the finished copy. I am sorry that this review is up late but hey at least you can buy the book if you like this review. Now on to my summary and final thoughts. 

Serendipity “pity” Jones is a young girl who lives in a Dystopian age. She lives in the era after a Second civil war has happened because the majority of the World has been destroyed in one way or another.  Cities have been wiped out either by chemical or weather, and the remaining civilization has come together in order to survive. So like in any dystopian novel, women have been pushed back to be second class citizens. They are treated as breeders. Serendipity is chosen by her father to be sent to this other city to be a wife and mother to this guy she has never met. This decision is the end for her and she decides to leave with a friend. Her friend and her end up in the middle of nowhere being hijack until these citizens of Cessation save her. She meets Max and a few other people who help Pity moved to Cessation. Pity sees Cessation as her salvation but things will happen and Cessation might become the place to break her instead. Its a ride or die world and Pity's is left to choose which one it will become for her. Now if you wish to know more I honestly feel like you should, check out this book, it's totally worth it.  Let's get to my final thoughts on this book.

I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars because I sorely enjoy Lyndsay writing throughout this book. Lyndsay has a way of writing that causes a person to be lost in the book. I love how Serendipity didn’t give up on life, even though she always felt like she was a chicken. I love how unique Max was a painter and Emo kind of kid. I love how much Cessation reminded me of Tombstone and Wyatt Earp. You could really feel the wild west in this book which I love. But I didn’t care for the Dystopian factor. I felt like this book didn’t need a dystopian factor in it. The dystopian world was so much like hunger games to me and I am as a reader over that factor in any books really. It seems like this world is filled to the brim of Dystopian novels. But I will say this I will continue reading this series because I feel like this is going to be a series just by the ending. I will read anything by Lyndsay because she is just that type of writer for me. If you Love Hunger Games and the wild west than this book is for you. I totally think you should check it out if you love badass female type characters too. As always thank you for taking the time to read my reviews. The Valiant

Hello, Book lovers of the world!!! Happy New Year and welcome back to my newest book blog. This Blog is about The Valiant by Lesley Livingston which originally came out February 14th, 2017. I have seen this book around for a while and have wanted to read it but I never got around to picking it up. So when Razorbill offered me the chance to read it for a review, I leap at it. So huge thank you to Razorbill for this book. Also Book two of the Valiant Series which is title The Defiant comes out on Jan23rd, 2018 and I will be picking that up. Now onto the summary and my thoughts on the book.

This book is about a young girl name Fallon who is originally from a Celtic tribe. Rome and Caesar invade Fallon homeland when she is a little girl. They kidnapped her father which sends her sister Sorcha to war. In Fallon's land, the women fight as equals with the men, like the Amazon women. After Fallon's father is return, to their land, she learns that her sister died in the war. Years later Fallon is grown and now in love with Mael, except she wants to join the Tribe's Army first. Things will happen, Decisions will be made which could lead to Fallon's life being destroyed before it ever begins. Now in order to find out the rest, I suggest you go buy the book. Now to my final thoughts on the book.

Fallon is a badass female gladiator which is described as an Amazon Celtic female. She is the main character in the book. She comes off as a naive teenager in every way. At the same time, she deserves credit for how she handles the things thrown at her. I find her naive because her elders refuse to let her grow up, they want to protect her from everything. This hinders Fallon growth and experience. I love Fallon though because she fights for what she believes in. She goes full force when she believes in something too. She reminds me of Rey from Star Wars a lot.

Next, we have the characters of Sorcha, Fallon's Sister. Sorcha impacts all of Fallon's decisions during this book, especially at the end in a very heavy way. Of course, we also get to meet three of Fallon's possible love interest's such as Mael, his brother Aeddan, and Caius. Mael and Aeddan are both from another Celtic Tribe while Caius is a Roman Soldier. I would just like to say at this moment I am very much team Caius. We also at the end of the book meet Cleopatra and Caesar, Plus many more characters. As this book goes on we learn the reasons, behind Fallon's father telling her, why her Sister Sorcha is dead. We learn what it really means to be a female gladiator during the time of the Roman Empire. We learn a lot about the Roman Empire as a society.

Now as for the book I rated it a four out of five stars, and here are my reasons why? I felt like the majority of the book was much more focus on Fallon thoughts than actual dialogue between the characters. The book also at times contains way too much descriptive historical facts. I felt like sometimes you could not see a balance between history and the story of the characters. This book also packed a lot of information. Now on to what I loved about the book. The history of the book is something I did love at the same time found it too much. I love the fact that Fallon was so passionate about her beliefs. I love how well Caesar came off as a human being but still Caesar as a historical figure. I can tell that Lesley, really was into the research of the history, in this book which is amazing. I love how you can tell that Lesley really wrote this book for herself, more than for the world, which is something you want to see from an author. Lesley makes me want to read The Defiant right away, even though it's not available yet. I seriously love this book and I hope you all will want to read this book now. Seriously, guys, Check out this book, you will love it, if you love historical fiction.  I can't wait for the second book. As of right now I only know of the two books but I am sure Lesley will write more for this series. A Treacherous Curse

Hello, fellow Mystery Romance Book lovers of the world, and Happy Holidays. I am back with this awesome blog today about A Treacherous Curse from Deanna Raybourne and Berkely Publishing, This book was an E Arc I received from Netgalley for an exchange of a free review. Basically, anyone who reviews books can join Netgalley and get free Arcs to read. This is the way I get most Arcs. This book will be released January 18, 2018, according to Amazon in Hardcover. This book is the third in the Series, and there will be more books to come.  Now onto my summary and review of this awesome book. 


Treacherous Curse is the case of an Egyptian Curse involving, of Course, Stoker and Veronica. This Book once again takes place in Victorian London with the occasional guest appearance of the Royal Family. This book gives us more knowledge on Stoker life, his ex-wife, and what happen that cause his salacious past to come into play. We find out how Stoker former expedition partner disappears and why his disappearance plays a part into the Egyptian Curse as well. We also begin to see fondness or romance of some sort develop between Veronica and Stoker. We learned how imaginative the Victorians were around Egyptian Curses. We basically gain a new awesome Sherlock inspire mystery once again from Stoker and Veronica. 

I rated this book a four out five stars. I believe this is the best book in the series so far. I read this as an E Arc and still couldn’t put it down. I have a hard time enjoying ebooks especially the last few years. I feel like I don't take all the information in but yet with this book I could not put it down. Veronica, as a person just becomes more vibrant. She becomes even more independent for a Victorian woman. She acts like one of the guys but at the same time will knock a man down to his knees. Throughout the book, she is telling Stoker how much he basically has no idea that females are not the weak species of the world. We can ruin someone with one look or thought, and we do it with such strong force. One of my favorite scenes is Veronica having a showdown with a female in the book and being a source of killer strength. She literally comes in, guns blazing and takes the person out with words, and nothing else just words. These are true female instincts to the core, and I think that's what Veronica is trying to tell stoker. Now Stoker, on the other hand, is just like “Don't Change Veronica, Don't Ever Change”. One of my favorite lines in the Arc which I hope is in the final printed book, is a Certain person telling Veronica, "he killed a man how you are not scared" and Veronica basically comes back and says "Because I killed two men", like Bam in your face. Veronica really earns a place in my heart during this book. I didn’t think I could love Stoker or Veronica more but this book change that. Now I can’t wait for the fourth book, I am so excited. 

As for Deanna Writing, she always has a way of making me want the next book before its even finish. The way she writes Veronica is bloody amazing. You really feel like Veronica is the very definition of a female or how females react when protecting their family. Stoker is amazing, very much the modern day gentleman, or what we hope is a modern day gentleman. He does not shy away from sexual talks with Veronica but at the same time will blush by her bluntness. Stoker in society is bold, strong, scary victorian man but behind closed doors, he becomes a hopeless romantic. This part of Stoker makes Veronica become so protective it seems, and the same can be said of Stoker with Veronica. Can you tell I am seriously in love with this Series and I could go on for days about the books? But before I spill all the spoilers, I think you should buy the series for yourself as a Christmas present and read it. The Speaker Review

Hello Fellow book lovers, and happy holidays. I am so excited for the holidays especially Christmas, it always makes my heart glow with joy and love. I am back here today with an awesome new book The Speaker. It is a Young Adult book from Putnam which came out on November 7th, 2017 and its the sequel to The reader. It is a series title Sea of Ink and gold. I would like to say huge thank you to Penguin Random for sending me both books in an exchange for an honest review. Now onto the summary and review of The Speaker.  


In this book, we continue with Sefia, Archer and Captain Reed stories. We originally met all of these people in the Reader. They seem to be the main characters in the Series so far. As we continue through the Speaker, We learn so much more about how all of these people came to be on their journeys. We learn more about Sefia parents, and what they did that cause them to be hunted. We learn Archer history and how he came to be apart of the story. We find out how Reed’s story ties into Sefia and Archer stories. We have gained so much more information on the War that seems to be going on in the story. Now that is all I am going to say because I don’t want to spoil the first book.

I rated this book four out of five stars because of how crazy it is. The reason this series hasn’t reach 5 stars with me is because I feel like Traci Chee, put to many perspectives in the book. So many view points in one book tends to feel confusing sometimes. I felt really confuse by both of the books a lot because of all the points of view. At the same time I am anxious to see how everyone is tied to everyone else, which is something you learn through out this book. These characters and the story are very complex and have a lot of Depth to them. These characters can shock you sometimes with how they react to something. I was really shock by the fact that a few characters use Violence in this book as a numbing agent. The Violence explanation disturb me sometimes because of how it was use. I didn’t want to see these characters having to fight in order to feel better about themselves. It was almost like they where fighting to be more relaxed and using it as an escape of handling real life. This annoyed me and for this book to be a young adult book, the violence was a bit problematic for me. I was also really shock by this book because of some of the history revealed about the characters and their lives. This book just held so much information in it, that sometimes it became an overload to me as a reader.

Now as for the book itself, omg is it beautiful. Both books contain deco edges on the pages and the covers are Asian inspired. The story has a ton of Asian influence along with Eastern European and India in my opinion. The Characters are more developed and have more explanation for how they came to be themselves. You find out fascinating plot information that makes you wonder more about these characters. I love the beauty that I can see in this plot, and these characters, that is raw and terrifying but makes them even more interesting. We also have more pirates in this book which I really love, I felt that was fascinating.The most unique thing about these books is that they unique and like nothing else, I have seen before. I totally still feel like these books should be read because they are extremely action pack. I feel like these are the type of books you will find something new about every time you read them. I honestly would say buy both of these books and read them because they are just that good. I have a feeling there will be more books in this series. The Reader by Traci Chee


Hello Fellow book lovers, and happy holidays. I am so excited for the holidays especially Christmas, it always makes my heart glow with joy and love. I am back here today with an awesome new book, Well it's new to me, Called The Reader by Traci Chee. It is a middle-grade book from Putnam which came out last year and on November 7th, 2017 the sequel which is Title The Speaker just came out. I would like to say huge thank you to Penguin Random for sending me both books in an exchange for an honest review. Now onto the summary and review of The Reader. 


This book is about a young girl by the name of Sefia. Sefia is left alone after her parents are murder than again when her adoptive aunt was kidnapped and dragged away. She ends up meeting a boy by the name of Archer who becomes a friend and Partner in crime as the book continues. After her parents died, Sefia finds a book but in her world Books don't exist , and people don't know how to read or write. But Sefia learns as she and Archer make their way through jungles. What Sefia doesn’t know is now she has what I called book hunters in her tale because a book is just not a book, it is actually so much more. As Sefia moves across the country, she and Archer have a lot of problems because of what she has learned and the people who are now hunting her, along with Archer.  But in order to know Sefia real story, you will just have to read this book which I think is a must. Now onto my final thoughts 

 I rated this book a four out of five stars because of how crazy it is. It is a story inside of a story inside of the story. It reminds me a lot of once upon a time and how Henry is the author but then his book actually writes the stories of his family. The books in Sefia world, hold all of time and space. They hold the histories of real people and so therefore only the Librarians and Guards of the Libraries can read and know the history of the world. Nobody else can read or write because the books hold secrets that have yet to come. But Sefia ends up with the gift of being able to read which leads her on a journey of discovery. She and Archer lose so much as Sefia learns to read but then at the same time gain so much. All of the characters in this series are complex but at the same time intriguing and not boring. You actually will want to read this series, just because the mystery keeps going and going. I just love these characters so much. 


Now as for the book itself, omg is it beautiful. Both books have those deco edges on the pages and the covers are Asian inspired. The story has a ton of Asian influence in it and you can tell this as you read the book. One minute you feel like your in India the next minute you feel like your in China and plus there are pirates. Traci Chee did such an awesome job making you feel like every character and place was different. She packs this book with tons of action and complexity too. I am in awe of how amazing this first book was and now I can’t wait to get to the second book. This book to me is so unique and I honestly haven't read another book like this before. It's just so intriguing and it keeps you guessing until the end of how it's going to turn out. Trust me this is one book you're going to want to read and review.
