New book blogger maybe ??

So lets try this again.I tried this once before and felt like it was to emotional, so I deleted it. Hi, my name is Meli, I am a blogger. I started blogging about Makeup shortly after my mom died, four years ago. I don't know why I choose makeup because I have always love to read but I did. Maybe its because I wanted to change and do something new, I am not sure, but anyway I did learn I loved makeup as much as books. So now onto the story, and hopefully you will stay.

Once upon a young girl decide she want to share her love of books with the world. But in order to share this love, she had to do something crazy. She had to write this tiny little thing name a blog. But that still wasn't enough, so she decide to add more crazy to the situation and made a wonderful youtube channel. As time went on, the young girl pursue these things but wasn't sure of how to attract attention to such wonderful exciting things. So she decide to write a small blog about herself to attract more like minded people and here it goes..

Hello everyone, My name is Meli (πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) and I love books. I have love books since I first learn how to read in first grade( late bloomer πŸ˜›). My mom used to tell me after you learned to read, your nose was always in a book, which is very true 😁. Thankfully my parents also had the attitude of allowing me to read anything and everythingπŸ“šπŸ“š. They felt this would expand my mind while helping to improved my vocabulary.  I won't lie though, I did lose my love of reading during my college years. I would always read a book here or there sometimes. It's actually how I found Lexi Blake and Maya Banks, was through my college years. But I still didn't read enough or at least read like I used to. This blog or the creation of it, gave me back the love of books. It was something I started because I have always love books, but it also made me pursue more like minded people. Social media has been so helpful in finding people to share this book love with.

So now I am at the point of how do I get more people to find my blogs, and youtube channel without constantly being a pest about it. My ideal is that I want to share this blog with fellow book lovers, bloggers, authors and you tubers, because I love books. But I want to do it in such a way that it doesn't seem like I am being annoying or constantly up selling myself. So I would like to ask for your help. I am asking you for to maybe share my blog every so often, please follow or even suggest a new book to me. I would love ideas on my writing, or what the next book I should read. How can I get notice by more authors or maybe publishers to add more to my book love ideas. Simply just any kind of help would do.  Thank you so much if you have stuck this far with me. I hope this is the start of a beautiful book lover friendship.

Book Covers

As a reader, the first thing that catches my eye is usually the cover of a book. After I see a cover then I pick up the book to read the summary on the back. Nine times out of ten I will buy the book.

But as I grew up, I started to notice the differences in the covers of books. For example in my twenties it was the difference between Us Book covers and UK book covers. But now a days I tend to notice the differences of many book covers such as the Uk ones vs the American ones vs the kindle ones sometimes.

I find that most US book covers are to overdone. We have a tendency in this country to want to cover every inch of a book cover almost to the point of the book becoming cheesy.  While the UK covers are usually very simple, very pleasing to eye, almost Feng Shui like. Now the Kindle covers can usually go either way, they can be really pleasing to the eye or really cheesy.

I just find that more and more no matter how good a book is I am becoming increasingly turn off of good books when they have Cheesy covers. It's not that I wouldn't read the book, its just that every time I see the cover, I am like if only that cover had been change or fix.

I tend to prefer the UK covers more and more now, then US covers because of how simple they are.  I do have wonder though who actually has the final say on the covers of a book, if its the publisher or the writer, hopefully one day we will know.

So I hope you all enjoy this little ya da ya da blog. I just felt like talking about the book covers because it always made me wonder in fascination. Hope you enjoy it as well

Peace, love and books

Life On Hold

Life on Hold was a story written by the lovely Karen McQuestion. It is more like a novella then a novel but I really enjoyed for that reason. I pick this book up to read because I really wanted to read a book that takes place in Wisconsin. The Summary of this book also convince me to read this book as well. I know some people don't like knowing anything about a book when they go to read it but I'm not one of those people and never will be but enough about me. So lets get to this wonderful story now?

The main characters are a daughter name Rae and her mother Gina. As Rae was growing up, Gina was always moving them around from city to city across the Us. Gina didn't want to settle down especially not in Wisconsin. So when Gina decides to move them to Wisconsin eventually, Rae is finally happy about it. Rae doesn't like moving around a lot, she wants comfort and stability, and she feels like Wisconsin will help that. But what Rae doesn't know is that this time her life will change, maybe for the better. Rae by chance meets a girl name Allison. After Rae finds out about Allison life situation, everything changes and maybe its all for the better. Maybe both mother and daughter will finally grow up and become the ladies they where always meant to be.

As for this book I rated it 3.5 stars of five stars, because I love the idea behind this story. I would have like to seen more of certain people that Rae came to meet and love. But even though that didn't happen, I really did love the rest of the story between Rae and her mom. I also love the discussions about mental health, and how easy it is to lose your way from reality. I love the focus on the single mother and what it takes. So overall I would recommend this book to anyone. I think its a great short story to read when you want something lighthearted and fast. I did love that this book was an easy read. It held my attention one hundred percent. It was well written, clear and precise. The only factor for me that was missing was the development of the secondary characters. I felt like the secondary character could have had more added to their stories. Honest I still will recommend this book to anyone and if you want to read the summary for it, all information for it will be listed below.

I would like to give a special thank you to Mrs Karen McQuestion for reaching out to me and kindly sending me this book. I appreciate the great opportunity to read a really great new story.

As always

Outlander

So as many people know Outlander is a new series on Starz, and if you have watch the Series then you know that there are books, that the show is base on. Well I am here to provide you with a review on book one of the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. Two thing before my review of the book. One is that you need to read the book, the show provides only half of what is in the book. The second thing is that these books are far more descriptive then the show, so that makes them more enjoyable. Now on to the review.

The book starts out with the reader's mind in 1945 Scotland. The war has just ended for our two character Claire Randall  One day she ends up at some mysterious rocks, and which some how causes her to end up in Scotland 1745. She ends up with the Scots who think she is a spy. This business leads her into trouble so she has to married Jaime, one of the Scots she meets. Eventually she ends up back at the rocks to return to her time, which leads her to make a choice that will change her future. This is the beginning of Claire life.

This book was enjoyable for me, So I have rated it a 4 out of 5 stars. Diana Gabaldon's attention  to detail is amazing. She is the writer everyone else hopes to be as they write their work. So I will suggest any adult who loves the show, to absolutely pick up these books and read them. I will warn some of you though if you have an issue with Violence, or Abuse of any kind, please be mindful that these books carried a ton of that in them, to the point, that I was cringing. I cannot suggest these books enough for those who love the show or love other shows like  Game of thorns, or books like Sarah J Maas Court of thorns and roses. This is a wonderful book and all information about where to buy it and its Author will be listed below.

As Always peace love and books,
Meli

Unhinged

Unhinged is about Alyssa Gardner return to the Madness, that is her Wonderland. It is the second book in AG Howard fantastic Alice in wonder retelling. Alyssa, in case you don't know, is supposed to be the great great great granddaughter of Alice Liddell or Alice from Wonderland. But as the series continues we find out what Alyssa True family bloodline really is. This really is a great modern day retelling of Alice in Wonderland. I hope you will pick it up after this review along with the rest of her books.

Unhinged is where Alyssa is confronted by her family legacy. While dealing with this confrontation, she has a hard time maintaining friend and family ties. She learned not to trust everything she sees or hears. She learned how to use her family Madness to fight for what she believes is best. She learned that her bloodline is far more magical than most in wonderland. She gains more information on the inhabits of the wonderland world. She tries hard to choose between the wonderland world and the real world. All of these lessons will help Alyssa later on in her life. But right now she has to find some way to keep the legacy a secret while being her true self with her loved ones, even if it is a means to an end.

In the end, I rated this book a five out of five stars, although this is not my favorite story in the series. The reason I rated it five out of five is that of AG Howard writing, it is so amazing. She is very descriptive with these characters in the way that Tim Burton is with his movies. In fact, if you love Tim Burton or anything in that Goth style you will surely love this series. I can't recommend it highly enough and I hope you get a chance to pick it up at your local bookstore or with the Amazon link below.

Fangirl Review Rainbow Rowell

I want into the reading of Fangirl, thinking, hey this is going to be a light hearted naive story about Pre adult romance. I use the word Pre adult because when your 18, to me your no longer a teenager although you still may act like one, but anyways back to the book. This book of course does involve the romance but I have been finding that more pre adult, YA books are no longer naive like they use to be. Somewhere between my teen years, which was the mid to late 90s and now which is 2017, the books and there topics changed.  I honestly believe they change for the better. They are helping to challenge our teens and their beliefs. All of these things are really great and really needed, so I am personally loving the change.  I didn't think I would love Fangirl that much because as I said, it sounded like a YA naive romance novel. Then when I read book, it become so much more. Honestly I would love to see more of the two main characters, which in my opinion is Levi and Cath, have another story.  So enough about my opinion, lets get to the heart of the story .

In this book there is a girl name Cath, who happens to have a special crazy relationship with her family, along with anxiety like most teens of today. She graduates high school, goes off to college and creates new relationships. She meets two guys, and one of the guys who she meets is through her roommate and his name is Levi. When Cath meets Levi, she knows he is close to her roommate. A few things happen and Cath ends up spending more time with Levi because of it. Some how Rainbow Rowell wrote a very natural weird real life relationship in such a book form, hopeless romantic way. For me I love this book so much because of the fact that Cath is weird. She is very much homebody at the beginning of the book, yet still gets the guy. I honestly need to know her secrets because I find I am a lot like Cath.

So I gave this book a four out of five stars rating because when we start seeing more of Cath and Levi relationship, thats when Rainbow adds more of the Snow fanfic by Cath into the story. Now while I understand the point of adding the fanfiction, I feel like it takes away from the story of Levi and Cath. I feel like because of the fact that Carry On was written about Cath's fanfiction characters Snow and Baz,that Rowell really didn't need to add them into Fangirl as much as she did. That my only issue with the story, otherwise, overall it is a great funny young adult romance. I would recommend this to anybody who wants something sweet and fun that deals with Mental health issues. I hope this review helps and Yes buy the book, its worth it. Thanks for joining me once again on this book blog journey and all need to know items, will be link below.

Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill

Only Ever Yours was a book I set out to read because I had heard such wonderful things about the writing and how it was written about feminism. I also want to broaden my horizons, when it came to books because most of my life I had read cute romance novels. You know those romance novels you pick up in the drugstore for about eight bucks and they are always the same. The girl usually is new to town, meets the local whatever it may be, i.e. doctor, sheriff, ranch owner and they fall for each other. But the guy is not really sure, so they break up and then he realizes he can't live without her.. ya da ya da, well this is not that kind of story.

This story is about the perfect utopia world that really is more of a dystopian world. The main character is Frieda or number #630( reminds you of another time that numbers were used to describe people). Well, Frieda comes from a perfect society where Rich men rule and Women are only ever used for baby making or for being a concubine( 17th-century history, insert here). All women are taught that all they want is to be the wives. Sadly as I read this book I could never figure out if the women were robots or real. If you choose to read the book you will see what I am talking about, it's almost Stepford wife-ish. As the book continues I believe you will see what I saw and that is how much our world is like this book. How society ideas are put forth even today, i.e.  How even now a woman is considered happier and wiser if she becomes a parent when she gets married, instead of being single or living independently. This book reminded me of the Hunger Games Series, in the way it describes the world and how history can be seen in it.

Now I must warn you as I read this book it was unbelievably painful. I felt a mixture of emotions for what Frieda was facing while learning how to agree with her dystopian society standards. I finally realize the emotions were coming because I have seen these standards, maybe not as extreme as present in this book but I have seen these standards among society today. I have seen how women are taught that your life will be one hundred percent happier if you're married and have a kid. How by doing those simple things, you will contribute to the world better. To be honest I don't believe society knows that these things exist. Why? Because most of them have come in forms of traditions pass down among people. For example, if you decide to get married, it is modern day tradition that you get married in your early twenties. While for our great grandparents it was usually twenty for the men and fifteen or later for the women. After the marriage, then almost everyone around you, is saying, well when will you be having a baby, because most of history says that's how it all works. Even I did it earlier, when I started writing this article, I reference old age romance stories. In fact, since reading this book, I have discovered numerous things I do simply because of old traditions from society. This book made me understand so many things I do, even though it hurt like heck. I am always told the things that hurt you the most usually help change you the most. I am hoping that this book has changed me in some way for the better. I think that even though this book was painful, it should be read by both men and women. It is a classic in the making, even more than Hunger Games. This book should be read in every junior high and high school as an assignment because it will change the world.

I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to read this review as always. In the end, I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars because there were a few things I didn't quite understand while reading the book. I do want to say if you suffered from some sort of depression, you might want to try and read this book a little bit at a time because it does change your emotions drastically at points of time but I believe it is worth it in the end. I will link the author social media information below as well as where you can buy the books. Please feel free to follow me on here or leave me a comment about any of my book reviews.

Thanks
Always
Melih

Ps If Louise reads this, I hope the review was as amazing as your work. Thank you for writing a book that changes my life, I look forward to reading all of your work for the rest of my life
